Tribute to Mary Jane Clancy Frowert

Mary Jane Clancy Frowert, 80, of Fredericksburg passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at her home. Born and raised in Baraboo, Wisconsin, she and her beloved sister Patricia spent many joyful days at Devil’s Lake.

She received her bachelor’s degree in history from Marquette University. An independent young woman, she moved across the country to Annandale, where she continued her career as a public school teacher, married and lived in Fairfax, as a homemaker and mother to her four children. She later earned her Masters of Library Science from the University of Maryland and began a second career as an elementary school librarian for Prince William County Schools and worked part-time at the Fairfax County and Prince William County Public Libraries. After her retirement, she moved to Fredericksburg where she enjoyed quilting, gardening and caring for her pets. Her dogs Bill, Tommy and Adele brought her fulfillment and happiness in her retirement, as did showering her children and grandchildren with handmade quilts and books.

Survivors include her children, George (Melanie), Matthew (Ibolya), Nancy and John (Vickie); grandchildren Andrew, Alexander, Edith, Samuel and Benjamin; sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Gerald McGreevy; niece Beth; and cousins ​​Robert and David. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert and Vera Clancy.

The family will receive friends for the recitation of the Rosary on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 6:30 PM at Covenant Funeral Service, 10830 Patriot Hwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM. on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 9600 Caritas St, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. The funeral will be private at a later date.
