Las Vegas Metro Police are investigating two separate shootings

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) is investigating two separate shootings that occurred on May 6 and 7, 2024.

Early morning shots on Tropicana Avenue

The first incident occurred shortly after 8:21 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, on the 3000 block of East Tropicana Avenue. Two people were taken to hospital after the shooting. One person remains in critical condition, while the condition of the other person has not yet been released as of noon on May 7.

The area will remain closed to the public during the investigation. LVMPD assures the community there is no active threat.

Teenager arrested for shooting death

In a separate incident, LVMPD officers responded to a call around 4 a.m. on Monday, May 6. A caller reported that their 17-year-old son had shot and killed a friend.

Officers located the scene near the 1600 block of East St. Louis Avenue and found the victim deceased from an apparent gunshot wound inside a car.

The investigation determined that the shooting was intentional, and the 17-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of open murder.

The identities of both the victim and the deceased in the Tropicana Avenue shooting will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
