Cycling finishes fifth at Road Nationals; Dillon Geary first in all-American competition

Cycling finished fifth and Dillon Geary took first place in the Men’s All-American competition at the USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships May 3-5 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Lions earned 330 points after three days of competition, just seven points behind fourth-place SCAD – Atlanta.

Meanwhile, Geary finished with 185 points based on his performances in the team time trial, road race and criterium to take first place ahead of Vaughn Veenendale of Colorado Mesa in second place with 168 points and Jonas Walton of Belmont Abbey in third place with 166 points . points. The top eight runners were named All-Americans. Riley Wrightsman done 17e in the rankings with 102 points. Kaya Schroeder was the top Lion in the Women’s All-American competition, scoring 21st with 88 points.

The competition started on Friday with the team time trials. Geary’s Lindenwood men’s team, Brody Burnham, Riley WrightsmanAnd MacShindell earning a spot on the podium, finishing third with a time of 35:31.36 behind second-place Fort Lewis College and first-place Marian University. The Lindenwood women’s team Megan Lester, Ajay Baker, Mya Dixonand Schroeder placed eighth with a time of 45:01.14.

The road races took place on Saturday, with Geary taking a men’s podium finish in fifth place with a time of 2:22:59, just two seconds behind the event winner. Wrightsman was 25e, Sam Finch 42NLAnd Jura Gerlach 43rd. Jacob Craig And Asa Black followed and crossed the finish line between a group of 18 riders.

Schroeder was the highest Lion in the women’s road race, taking 21st with a time of 3:08:59. dixon, Jordan Austin, Ella DishongBaker, Abby BratvoldLester, and Emma Balding all crossed the finish line in a pelaton of 21 riders.

The competition concluded on Sunday with the Criteriums. Geary was again the best lion among the men, with tenth placee place with a time of 1:20:46. Wrightman was close behind in 21stwith Black and Bradley Bosman cross the finish line in a group of 25 riders.

Baker took first place for the Lions in the women’s race, finishing 21stst with a time of 1:14:22. Schroeder was close behind in 22NLwhile Austin took 27eBratvolt 30eand Lester31st.

The USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships concluded competition for the Lindenwood cycling program.
