The speaker of the Montana House is calling for a special session on illegal aliens

The Speaker of the Montana House of Representatives is calling on his fellow lawmakers to support a special session of the Legislature to address the influx of illegal aliens into the state.

We spoke with MT Speaker of the House Matt Regier (R-Kalispell) on our statewide show Tuesday morning. He says there will be an official poll of state lawmakers to see if they will support the call for a special session.

If they were to hold a special session, what could be done so that Montana can deal with illegal aliens being secretly transported into the state?

Aaron Flint: “Because the Biden administration will try to fight local law enforcement in the state to deport these illegal aliens by any means necessary. But Texas passed a law, and it has so far withheld federal court scrutiny. So maybe Montana can pass the law. same law right?

Speaker Direction: Yes, exactly. Texas kind of took the lead, but then Iowa jumped on board. I like Iowa law. It’s only seven pages long. It’s Iowa Senate Bill 2340, and it’s great. It makes it a state crime to be in Iowa if you are in the country illegally. And I think that’s at least what Montana needs to do. That opens a lot of doors. Right now, our local law enforcement, our state law enforcement has no recourse. And we have to… we’re the legislature, and we have to give that to them.
