LA Metro guard stabbed, another shot and killed in East Hollywood

A man was shot Tuesday morning after allegedly stabbing a security guard near a Hollywood subway station.

The security guard was reportedly stabbed in the leg near the station at 1500 N. Vermont Ave. around 9 a.m. while conducting a “routine security check,” Los Angeles police said.

Authorities said the security guard was in a non-public area when he encountered an intruder and got into an argument when he was stabbed.

“This resulted in an altercation in which Contract Security Guards first used pepper spray and after the perpetrator stabbed one of the Contract Security Guards in the leg, a Contract Security Guard fired a weapon in self-defense,” Metro said in a statement.

The suspect was then found about a block away, near the intersection of De Longpre and Vermont Avenue, unconscious and not breathing.

Homicide detectives are investigating the scene.
