Members of the North Dakota and Minnesota National Guards are deployed more frequently

(Fargo, ND) — Those serving in the National Guard in North Dakota and Minnesota are being deployed more frequently at home and abroad.

“The burden over the last four or five years on our soldiers, and not just on our soldiers, but on our families and their employers, has increased significantly with the increased state active duty missions, and then the missions abroad. We’re asking for a lot more from We’ve gotten more soldiers locally in the last four to five years than we’ve had in a long time,” said Maj. Zachery Hendrickson, executive officer of the Minnesota Army National Guard.

Hendrickson was one of the keynote speakers at this morning’s Eggs and Issues event in Moorhead, hosted by the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce.

The emphasis of the event was on “Defending the Homeland”.

Hendrickson says recent area patrol deployments include winter storm response, flood relief and responding to civil unrest in Minneapolis.
