A North Dakota woman is facing multiple charges following an incident Friday afternoon in Pierre

A 20-year-old woman from Hankinson, North Dakota, is charged with assault following an incident Friday afternoon (May 3, 2024, 2:45 PM) in Pierre.

Pierre Patrol responded to the 2300 block of Flag Mountain Drive in Pierre for a noise complaint. Patrol officers arrived at the residence and made contact with 20-year-old Heaven Leigh Mexican, who was smoking a fume at the time. Officers also discovered that Mexican had been drinking alcohol and that there was an active warrant for her arrest.

Mexican was arrested and taken to Hughes County Jail. While in the Hughes County Jail, Mexican assaulted another woman who was in the same cell as Mexican. A patrol officer and several correctional officers intervened to stop the attack. The victim of the assault suffered minor injuries.

Mexican was held on the warrant and additionally charged with obstructing an officer or jailer, simple assault, underage tobacco possession and underage alcohol consumption.
